Annnnnnd..... That's A Wrap

So Orientation's finally over everyone. It's been great fun no doubt for every single one of us, despite losing our voices by the second day.

Sure we didn't win anything, neither Orientation or Sea Carnival (unfortunately), but at least we were first mid-way through! And besides, like I already said, we had fun throughout no matter if we were winning or losing, and that's what's most important. :)

Now, time for some acknowledgments, and I believe I speak for most of Thor OGLs with this list:

First, a huge thank you to our OG Head and Vice-OG Head, Gabriel and Chang Hong. Just thinking about all the work you have to do gives me headaches.

Thanks to the SC Adhoc that organised Orientation, even though some of you might not have cool poses like Jerald, each and everyone of you are as important as the one next to you and Orientation would never have been possible at all without you guys.

Thanks to OGLs of all the other OGs, because it was only together that we could have made Orientation '09 what it was. The VJ spirit could only have been as prominent as it was with each and every one of you.\

Of course, thank you freshmen, like Jerald said, "Orientation is all about the freshmen". It's great to see you all come in to VJ on the first day keeping quiet and all but yet by the final day you're shouting louder than some OGLs. Each and every Thor freshmen as well as freshmen from all the OGs have shown that the VJ spirit can indeed be really addictive.


Last but not least, thanks to all Thor OGLs, all 32 of us. It's pretty amazing how 32 random people could have come together as one united unit to lead an entire OG. Every single activity, from the planning stages to Orientation itself, would never have been as fun without just one less person here. We've come a long way and it's sad how Orientation is suddenly over in just 5 days. It's as if we didn't even get to fully appreciate what it's like being an OGL and being a part of Orientation. But alas, there's still always OG Outings and JTS'es So once again, thanks for everything guys and gals :) You've been a great bunch of people.

Now that Orientation is over I'm thinking this blog is going to become pretty dead unfortunately. Hopefully we'll organise another OGL outing or something like that.

A struck of brilliance

I was watching the tv and suddenly there was the jia xiang mian advertisement. You know the one that goes jia xiang, jia xiang, jia xiang, mian, mian, mian? Yup, and there were someone asking wat we could say when MCs ask for Thor.

29 Jan OG briefing summary

Certain ground rules:
1) Know where your members are at all times
2) Proper for both OGLs and freshmen at all times
3) Be mindful of belongings especially outside, in east coast and suntec
4) Bring one trashbag for each subog

Standard protocol
Scenario 1: Lost freshmen
Let Kenrick know @ 97853192 and he will contact subog

Scenario 2: Locating freshmen
Parents contact Jerald or Xiaowei who wil contact Kenrick who contact subog

3: Injury
Go to first aid personnel which wil be at back of hall

4: Information to pass to ogls
hall: announcement for 1 OGL from each subog to meet outside hall. (ICs, or anyone else if ic is not around)
not in hall: OG heads will pass down

5:Crying freshmen
Please handle them with consideration and dun cry along with them

6: Fire
Do not panic. Listen to announcement

Mass dance @ Suntec
Friday 6 February. Time will be told later.
OGLs meet their subogs to bring the freshmen there if they dunno how.
There will be a lot of free time between sea carnival and the mass dance.

Things to wear:
For OGLs: Uniform for assembly on ALL days first then change to..
First and second day: PE attire
3rd day: white orientation tee
4th: house tee
5th: Yellow orientation tee (for suntec) see carnival is black tee or tee to be thrown.

For Freshmen: Sec school uniform for all days first then change to..
1st: White orientation tee
2nd: Sec sch pe attire
3rd: VJ Pe attire (to be bought by then)
4th: Sec sch pe attire
5th: Yellow orientation tee (for suntec) see carnival is black tee or tee to be thrown.

Things to do:
1) Calling freshmen (VERY VERY IMPORTANT)
a. Check yr email on Friday and Sat and I will send the list of freshmen to u

b. Each subog will have their freshmen’s names and contacts on the list to contact

c. Subog ics pls allocate who to call, there will be 12-15 people. Choose to call yrself or split I leave it to u. (i suggest just having 2 people to call. 6 isnt a lot of people)

d. Subog ics make sure the ogls in yr subog got the email, and call the freshmen up, if not pls call them yrselves(:

e. Keep trying to call them until 11pm on sat. If it fails, send the list of uncontactable people to me @ fre3ze91@hotmail.com by 11:05

f. Things to say:
i. Time, venue, attire (to be told to u in the email)
ii. Attire: come in sec school uniform on first day
iii. Pack light. Bring water bottle and money for lunch/uniform/opac

g. I'll update u on any changes or additional stuff

h. I’ll contact subog ics to inform of them of the sent email to be checked

2) Bring trashbag for suntec mass dance

3) Bring one 1.5L bottle water each on Monday

4) Get ursa house tee if possible for 4th day(:

3) Please stay back on wednesday for abt an hour or less to show the SCs our walk-in.

Walk-in Rehearsal

Woohoo! Today's walk in rehearsal was very successful! Firstly, thank you to all those who made the effort to come down even though we all had tons of spring cleaning to do. But for those who didnt, try to make it more often ok?

Actually there is only one more meeting and that will be next wed, 28th Jan 2009. It is a compulsory ogl meeting so please do turn up! We will be staying back to show sc what we doing but it shouldnt take long as we already have practiced. According to our dearest head, we are the FASTEST og!!! Cos the rest of them are only rehearsing only on that day. Muahahahahah!!!!

Yup, and there are a few add-ons to the previous walk-in.
1) There will be a simple girl walking about.
2) 2 bad guys kidnap her. Bad boy to carry simple girl up the stage.
3) Thor sits on the chair and carried waist height. (The trolley was taken away cos mr tanyh was complaining we would spoil the new hall floor, which will be wasting $175000 taxpayers' money.)
4) Using drum as beat, all to walk with sauve
5)4, 3, 2, 1! Thor moving cheer: OGLs making up the Rectangle do moving cheer!
6) Rectangle people forming rectangle around Thor squats and Thor stands
7) Hammer is thrown down from the gallery to Thor
8) Agents wearing other OGs’ bandanas stand to shout ‘We challenge you!’
9) Thor zap each of the 7 guys
10) 4/2 rectangle guys raise Thor on a chair
11) Bad guy laugh with a very se voice. Guys carry Thor to the stage
12) Girl shouts for help. Bad girl try to seduce Thor but fail
13) Bad boy seduces him and work but girl's calling woke Thor up.
14) Bad boy do some cool moves and rush towards Thor.
15) Stop by Thor's out-stretched hand and use hammer to knock him out.
16)All OGLs run to the bottom of the stage to do ‘Lightning cheer’ facing audience

I just realise no one brought camera to take any photos. -__- We should cam-whore somemore so that we will have something to look back.
